I like working with clay and making little knick knacks and stuff, but don't have and can't yet afford the kind of equipment needed for "real" clay (kiln, etc...). Sculpey is wonderful to work with in that it can essentially be baked in a toaster oven, but you can't eat or drink from any of the products you create. Is there any kind of coating or glaze that would make it useable for food other than a kiln-fired glaze? I don't think you could fire even pre-baked Sculpey products in a real kiln, but even if you could, if I had a kiln I'd just use the real stuff.

No, anything that's not fired will come off onto the food, in minute amounts.

i don't think its possible to fire sculpy clay in a kiln, the kiln gets too hot and would melt in the kiln. i think that Ceram-Coat makes a glaze that is safe for food, its part of their glass painting the only thing is u can't put the Ceram-Coat in a kiln either. it just needs to dry for a few days. but even then i'm not sure if some chemicals from the sculpy clay would leak through.

Sadly, no, there's nothing you can do to make polymer clay items safe for food use. I've looked and looked and looked, and ended up with nothing. I've tried almost every lacquer and varnish, and all are made with petroleum distillates, not something I would want to consume! sorry!

which would be extremely cool Wally. Do you have a thank you to fireside it? possibly somebody on right it extremely is easily-known with how. Please submit the image while your performed. possibly you may desire to stick your face interior the clay, kinda like that nail difficulty, the place you leave your impression. then wrap your face around the bone. enormous ***** award, hahahahaha
