Im kinda struggling with something here and I just wanted your opinions on this one.

We used to hang out with the neighbours a lot. But when hubby got cancer, they all kinda bailed on us. They stopped calling, coming over, saying HI , that kinda stuff. It really hurt so I stopped being friendly as well.

Well, now all of a sudden , they are being friendly to hubby. He was over there today, and I didn’t bother going over to say HI because Im still upset that they bailed on us like that.

Plus, the one wife is a busy body gossiper, so I don’t like sharing personal information about us because she will spread the information all over town. That doesn’t sit well with me.

So my question is ….Do you “love thy neighbour” in this case ?

I feel bad that hubby is over there by himself, and I should be “a good person” and be nice and social, but yet I don’t feel comfortable around this woman because of the gossip.

I feel like if I don’t be friendly ….its makes me a bad person.

It is sad but some people just don't know how to act, or what to say when someone is going through a crisis in life. If they are being friendly with him now, and he is returning their friendship, it looks like he is overlooking it, So you should too. I know it can be tough that when you could have used friends, they were not there. Don't be bitter. Be a leader. If they have a problem let them know you will be there for them. You will be blessed for it. As far as gossip,s are concerned, They are every where! What ever you don't want out in the air....Keep it to your self.

I personally would be friendly, but do not tell that lady; or any of those neighbors that bailed on you your personal information, because they will gossip. You should be over there with your husband though, I believe, to keep him company.

You should be polite and friendly..

Because she is a gossip, it would be best not to tell her your life story.....

As to whether you should say something about your hurt feelings, this is up to you,,,
