Combat veterans or equivalent experience get special attention.
Position on Bill of Rights, especially 2ND amendment. AKA privacy AKA the powers of the Federal Government are strictly enumerated and limited in the Constitution. (The Constitution is the finest peace treaty ever written. If the candidate has no sense of that, and the cost of war, I'm not interested.)
The candidates personal history. What have they done with their life so far and how have they dealt with the inevitable disasters?
Finally, the candidate's character. What are the candidates core beliefs. Does the candidate know what they will fight and die and kill to defend? Can they explain that belief and do they know what they don't really care about and so is subject to wheeling and dealing?

1. Economy - honestly not much else matters
2. Terrorism - they can effect the above and want too
3. Immigration - also relates to the two above gotta handle it right not with the extreme views of either side.
4. Health care - socializing it will be a building stone on a socialist society that ruins our economy; gotta get private enterprise to fix it which means getting government out of the way.

Senseless, unnecessary fake wars
Environment
The care and feeding of the U.S.A. (This covers the national debt, middle class and poverty issues)
I have one other to add. Many of our vets are coming home and killing themselves. They are getting horrible care. Some of them are already homeless.
