Unless white birth rates change soon, hispanics will be the largest group, but Asians are giving then a good run for their money. Chances are that no ethnic group will be a majority, greater than 50% of the population.

Then again, birth rates are dropping for all groups, even hispanics. Predicting what is going to happen in the next fifty years is a never all that accurate.

We could be a slave state by then, the way things are going, it sure looks like the Mexicanization of the U.S., where a small group owns almost all the wealth, and the rest are very poor. We are getting there more and more each year since reaganomics was created.

They will be Americans of Hispanic decent. They will also mix with other races, like whites, and will also contribute to society. The 2nd and third generations will appreciate all the America has to offer, study, work hard, and live the American dream without whining about everything. What's your problem with that? Most 2nd and third generation Hispanics don't even speak Spanish, like my ex-husband. My daughter has every much a right to be here as you, sine your ancestors came from someplace else, obviously.

English and German were once both widely used in the US and the 'great referendum' to decide the official language came out in favour of English but only just. Perhaps now is the time for a linguistic paradigm shift in favour of Spanish or Portuguese? After all, one language is as good as another.

No they aren't going to take over. As far as Spanish being the 2nd language that is fine. It may even help.

do a little math -- if the entire population of Mexico (108,700,891) (July 2007 est.) came into the US with it's population of 300 million would they be a majority then?

I get voted down for doing math accurately - lol
