well to let them decide COMPLETELY on their own, with absolutely no help, unless they ask for it, i would have to say 18.

Contrary to what is taught in public school, chonological age has nothing to do with it. The time is when they demonstrate the ability to make decisions, stick with the decisions and to be responsible for their actions.
Of course, some for some things it is a moot point: the law decides so many things, such as when a person can enter into a contract, including marriage.

I've been doing that myself since i was about 12. My parents know that I'm going to befriend who I please, and there is absolutely no way they can change that, we went through a huge fight about it a year or two ago, adn I won, proving my friends we're fine and I know how to keep myself out of trouble. I don't see why you shouldn't let them make their own decisions if they've done nothing to prove they can't. You really can't judge them against anyone else. My mom had run away from home and was pregnant by the time she was my age [16] but I'm still in school, living at home, and haven't even kissed a guy. So you can't really judge your children against yourself or others.

.....9 and up, after all kids in my town are doing things from 9 and up on their own. In a way its sad and disgusting. Most disregard their parents consent and others have none. X.x But I think....17/18, its when the average mind can think straight. I however am rather good at making decisions at 15. :D I rook

It really depends on the child themselves. If they have high maturity levels and show they can hold responsibility it should be an of early/middle teenage age such as 14-15. But if they show that they are immature and irresponsible it should be till they turn adults.

If they are taught and allowed to make age appropriate decisions.. it should be a natural progression, peaking when they are about 21.

when they realize they are not the only person in the world and that the world does NOT revolve around them. Unfortunatley for some people that NEVER happens. and for others it happens early in life...so as a general rule I'd say 18.
