i have compaq presario sr2150nx and i installed windows xp but the sound doesn't work. it came with windows vista. i installed realtek sound druver but it still doesn't work

Try disabling all startups before you install the sound driver. Be sure driver is for XP, not Vista.
Run msconfig to disable startups.

Goto Device Manager (Start>Run>compmgmt.msc). Search for ur audio card there. If there's a difficulty with it, u will see a yellow "!" subsequent to it. Just double-click on on it, press Reinstall Drivers, insert the driving force CD (in most cases ur motherboard cd), reboot, the whole lot must be nice now. Even if this did not paintings, get Service Pack two in your XP after which check out once more.

well you can have windows update to install the sound driver. if you don't find that then maybe the sound card is not compatible with vista.

go to control pannel and search for hardware it will work.
