Ok - so it is the middle of Nov. and I opened the windows in the Master bedroom. Ladybugs were coming in. I went and looked outside and the whole side of the house was covered with them. The temp has been between 75-80 this week. I didn't know that ladybugs were out in November.

First question : What are they doing? Second: Why are some red, orange and yellow and why do some have spots and some don't?

They are different colors and they are in the process of invading your house because they are the dreaded Asian Lady Bugs. They will come inside if they can and leave their nasty yellowness everywhere making your house smell of old gym shoes. Asian Lady bugs are only similar to their European cousins in that they eat aphids and look similar. However, they are home invaders, mess makers, they are killing off the European lady bug, and they bite to boot. Asian lady bugs have a distinctive marking and that is two white spots on their heads. If they find their way inside the best defense is the hose part of a vacuum. Just make sure you empty it quickly to avoid a stinky vacuum bag or container.
