Yes, the past and future do not have matter. However, the past *did* have matter, and the future *will* have matter. What you consider to be a profound thought is actually just a semantic quibble. A great deal of thought has gone into the syntax of past, present, and future tense in the English language.

In a sense you are correct, there is no past, only recorded events represent it, and the future does not exist, it is always, NOW.
