The Republic of Slovenia lies at the heart of Europe, where the Alps and the Mediterranean meet the Pannonian plains and the mysterious Karst. To the north is Austria; to the east, Hungary; to the south, Croatia; and to the west, Italy.

used to be part of what was Yugoslavia, I think.
Yea, Yugoslavia was split into 6 Republics, and Slovenia is one of them. In Europe, Slovenia is a small country located just east of Northeastern Italy, where Italy is connected to Europe. Slovenia lies just east of Venice at the northern tip of the Adriatic Sea. Slovenia is Austria's southern neighbor, and to the east and southeast of Slovenia are the other former Yugoslavian Republics.
