There is nothing to discover. Athens is a city that has been there continuously and lived in for 3000 years at least. All the archaeology is right in front of you. You can visit the classical Acropolis, the theatre of Dionysus, the Byzantine churches, and the neoclassical buildings. You can see astonishing museums, exhibitions, etc.
