I really don't want to think that we live, we die and then there is nothing more after that. What a waste. To achieve so much in one life time and never see it's completion or failure. It bothers me. I would hope I can opt for the way to continue watching the world after my death.
I personally have a desire to live forever, but I know that is selfish, what makes me so special? well, I do.

You're confusing two concepts. Fundamental and necessary to the concept of a "spirit" is that it has no physical presence/quality, and thus does not occupy space. If something occupies no physical space, then it can't "be" anywhere, and can't leave earth.

I don't think there are such things as spirits. 'Souls' are a shorthand descriptor for one of the functions of the brain, and so when we die, they are gone.
