Your not giving a topic so I will try and help you with any writing projects using basic guidelines.
Once you have chosen your topic, write down point form only, ideas about the topic you would like to cover in your work.
Look over your list and do research on the items you have written down, (make sure you write down where you got the information and include it at the end of your composition.
this is of course if the teacher wants you to write an essay type of exam.
If it is a normal exam, usually you will be tested on your grammar, so make sure you study the rules of sentence writing. You know a sentence is a complete thought. Punctuation, when do you apply commas, semi-colons. Spelling brush up on that, always try to learn a new word every day or week your vocabulary will increase you have to remember to use the word or try to or you will forget it, write, and read a lot, this helps tremendously because you don't realize that you are reading good sentence structures but your mind is picking it up as well as the correct spelling of words your mind picks that up too when you read.
You can go online at a dictionary site like Websters and check out the Thesaurus this tool helps you use other words instead of repeating the same word and expressions as well.
You have many tools available because you have access to a computer use it and good luck.

Okay first think about what you are going to write for a few minutes.
Next, plan out what your introduction will look like. Have a grabber for the first sentence... maybe like asking a question or setting the reader in a descriptive scene. Continue the intro with the idea of the grabber and end the introduction with a thesis: the last sentence that has the reasons supporting what you are writing about.
You should have a good three or four reasons that you could break into several paragraphs. Use advanced vocabulary and replace words with synonyms at any time you can. Remember to vary your sentence structure and attempt to start each sentence differently.
At last, you conclusions should sum things up in a meaningful way. You could be very dramatic if you want, and you could always end with a sentence that leaves the reader hanging and wanting more. In your conclusion basically restate what is said in the introduction, but add more details to it.
Hope this helps!

Make sure you have an introductory and conclusion paragraph. If you are writing about a story, make sure to include details from the passage in your essay. Make sure you keep on topic, and don't go off into elaborate explanations about details unless the directions tell you to. Hope this helps!!
