We are having a contest at work. We need to decorate our cubicles for the holidays. I need a theme, but can't think of anything good. I thought I wanted to do "A Christmas Story"...but buying all the stuff for it would be too expensive. Any ideas?

It will depend on how much $$ you want to spend:

Theme: Christmas Vacation - the Griswold look

For $150: Get a GE Lights and Sounds machine that will operate up to 1440 watts of lights. It automatically flashes, fades and twinkles your lights to preprogrammed music on 6 circuits.

The GE Lights and Sounds sells for $100 at Home Depot or Lowes. Spend the rest of the money on lights

$150 too much?

for under $100 - the Griswold look with CD player and Christmas Vacation soundtrack playing in the background with lights flashing (put the flashing bulb in the strands and have them going off to the music).

For under $50

Go to a Christmas Decoration store and purchase the light strand covers of your choice (for us, it is flamingos, but the leg lamp is available too). Put those up around your cube. I would keep the flashing setting on whatever strand you use.

I assume that you are a woman !
if you are, you could do" Mrs Claus cubicle" using red and white , have a small tree ,a lot of home made cookies or store bought if you don't have time to bake ,make a sign saying " Mrs Claus cubicle is open for the nice boys and girls " offer your co workers the cookies and hot chocolate made by you , candy canes with all their names on them, pick up some decoration from the Dollar store in red and white , go to the fabric store and get some faux fur in white and make yourself a wrap to wear on your shoulders . Wear red and white for the occasion .
