to have loads of friends , people should like you.. that means you should please them whether you feel comfortable or not.. like maybe you could crack jokes make them laugh etc.. but is that necessary?? is it better to be ourselves and do what we like to do or change in order to please others?? in other words is it good to have just a few good friends but friends who let you be yourself or should we have many friends by pleasing others??

Being yourself is something you can always maintain. Changing to please the status quo will make you unhappy and confused, because people's tastes vary from time to time (and from person to person). It has always suited me to have a small but loyal circle of friends than to try to entertain people en mass. But whether you're more introverted or quite the social butterfly, being yourself at all times is a definite must. Your happiness depends upon it.

I Scoff at those who say be yourself.
Your going to have change the way you act, even if its something small, such as being more considerate.
Look here in the Family and relationships section. How many people are having problems with how someone acts. The may have been in a relationship with that person and found tem to be perfect. But after a few months they get bored and want that person to change or they change themselves to make things work.
I tried the whole be yourself thing and myself isn't what people want.(too quiet and careful) So I try to be a bit more wilder, spontaneous, and to take more risk. And guess what? When I change I feel great and things are better. You do what it takes but don't change yourself into a completely different person. Good Luck.

I agree with the previous poster. If being yourself translates to being, say, shy, then you won't get ANY friends, nevermind a few.

Being yourself is very very abstract, mainly because no one knows what they are supposed to be. Solution? Be outgoing and friendly. If you are naturally like that, you're blessed. If not, try to change yourself to someone that everybody appreciates and loves. Because, face it, nobody feels the need to like a person that is reserved/in their shell cause believe it or not, it comes across as being stuck-up.

ITS ALWAYS BETTER TO BE YOURSELF, if you have to change yourself so that someone can like u then all that means is that they are liking someone else, this fake person that you are pretending to be.
It's rather to have 2 good friends who like you for who you are then 10 friends who like this fake persona that you created.
If you change yourself to please others you'll be changing yourself constantly because one person may like this about you while the next person doesn't. You can never please everyone which is why it's always best to be who you are

If the person doesnt like you for you, then do you really want to put forth the effort to be someone different around them. What if you have 2 different friends together and you act different around each of them. How uncomfortable that would be trying to please both of them being a different person to each!

Be yourself. If they do not like the person you really are then they are not worth being friends with.

it depends on what you want out of life. I myself would choose just a few friends who like me for me and, on the other side of things, I wouldn't want to be friends with someone who changed themselves in order for me to like them better.

It's good to be yourself. At the same time be polite and respectful to others.
