Of course it is, but I am wondering if there is any legal actions that can be taken.

The Story: My friend, who is black, was dating this girl, who is white, and they had been dating for a few months when her father found out. I have know the girls family for ever and he has alway been a super white-supremist, that is why the daughter hid the realationship from him. BUt after he found out he grounded her, took her phone, car, etc, away and forced them to break up.

I am just wondering if there is anything legally I can do to help him out...I am not sure on the laws, but this seems extremely unjust to me.

Just seeing what you all think.

Thanks.

Ok Wally and Shotter, it is not the fact she is grounded and such that I am upset about, it is that her father won't allow his daughter to date a black guy.

And it is my business, they are my friends, and I don't know about your friends, but I care about the happiness of my friends and their rights as people.

And the reason I was asking for legal advice, if there was any, was because, iti s far easier for a white person to get stuff done than any other race because of people like her father in the police, court system and the government. Whether people acknowledge it or not, racism is still a very real thing in America. Yes things have got far better than how they use to be, but things like this show how far we still have to go.

EVERYONE

Don't focus on her stuff being taken away, that was just an extra detail...it is not why I posted this.

I believe being a racist is passed down through generation to generation. There is a theory called - "Social Learning Theory," by a man called Bandura. And this theory suggests that we learn from watching our parents or others that care for us as a child. What it boils down to, is monkey see monkey do. But, in your friends case - even though she is not racist, she could be doing this unconsciously to get to her father because she knows how he will react. I have a 17 year old daughter and I have raised her to accept every color, that in Gods eyes we are all equal, but as far as education and poverty - we are not all equal in that categories.
And I have told her that I would rather her marry someone of color that loves her and that will not harm her. And I will state, I would rather her marry a black man that is American than someone that is Muslim. It's not the color, it's the belief system that matters to me.

I don't think there is anything legally that can be done. Parents can control a minor's comings and goings until they are 18 and prohibit them from having friends for any reason. I do hope they can get their heads out of their a#@ someday and not be so racist. That is so sad.

Is the girl 18, at 18 she is and adult and can do as she pleases, you cannot legally do anything about a dad having his opinions.

There are parents who don't let their children date ANYONE.

The dad might be racist, but not allowing his daughter to date is not a crime.

Why are you going to get involved with something that is none of your business? And #2 no there is nothing you can do "legally", Honestly dude what did you plan on doing, suing the dad for grounding your friend, taking the car, phone, etc?

Get a life, grow up, mind your own business.

If she is under aged, there is nothing you can do. After she turns 18 she can do whatever she wishes. If she wants to date this guy, that may mean that she no longer has a place to live.

If the girl is under 18 then the father has the right to raise her whatever way he sees fit, right or wrong.

Only if the things taken away are hers. Even then it is a long shot because she is under 18.

She can get herself legally emancipated and be declared an independent

That means she is going to totally cut off her family, which is a good thing anyways..
