I don't think so, no.

I work in a photo lab at Sam's club and make custom Christmas cards all day.

Just be sure to pick something appropriate as a border.
Something more artsie and less red and green.

Nothing bothers me more lately that people who get a green and red "Merry Christmas" border with Santa on it and then slap in a photo of them on the beach. The finished product just looks foolish.

Heck no. I lived in Hawaii one Christmas and sent a card with me (clothed) standing on a beautiful beach. A snowy tree would have looked a bit silly, no?

And if you want a spiritual message, what could be more appropriate than a sunset?

Go for it.

No. They have Christmas in tropical climates too, don't they. Depending on how the picture is set up, adding a silhouette of Santa & his reindeer flying off in the distance might be cute.

Yeah, I'd say, go out and buy a whole box of Christmas cards and send the same one to everyone you know, make it easy... But yeah, summer: inappropriate Christmas card :-)

A sunset has nothing to do with Christmas, unless there's a Santa or a reindeer in it.

Never inappropriate. Include inside maybe the thinking behind it, and it would be unique and heartfelt. Have a wonderful holiday season.
