I've nursed my baby until a few days ago he stopped wanting to nurse. He'll scream and turn his head. However, if I pump and put it in a cup, he'll sip a little. He won't take formula at all. He's always hated it and he's never taken a bottle.
He doesn't act sick. He's eating everything else fine. He downs oatmeal, veggies, fruits, He just seems like he's not interested in nursing anymore. I'm worried he's still not getting enough of the good stuff (breastmilk). How much does he actually need to be healthy? If I pumped once a day (like 4 ounces) would that be enough if he's eating other foods, and if he gets thirsty, just give him water and juice? Please help. thanks

I believe a baby on solids should still be getting at least 400ml - 600ml milk per day until 1 year old. All babies drink less than before once on solids and as long as they are thriving and not losing weight, they are fine. 4 oz (120ml) is not enough overall milk intake. Maybe try hiding milk in some of his foods mby mixing it in to make a creamy dinner.

If he is thirsty, give him breastmilk- not water or juice.
He needs the nutrients from the breastmilk. Continue to do as you are doing: pump and put into a sippy cup or bottle for him to take that way.

Why didn't you research this before you gave birth to him, newborns are fine after three months of breastfeeding you can slowly introduce formula, if he doesn't want the breast milk please do not force him to breastfeed. Once he turns away encourage him to eat his other foods I wouldn't worry sounds like he is eating what he needs to grow up healthy, make sure to give him good water every day, with his meal introduce strained juices, you can water it down too, unitl he is able to, did you try just homogenized milk he is past the formula stage by now he is almost a year old, he still needs milk but it doesn't have to be formula or breast milk now, the first three months are important in breast feeding because you are passing on to your baby all of your antibodies, so the baby has a better chance of fighting infections or colds that you are immune to because you had it and your body faught back and has set up in your immune system a recognition grid if you will and will recognize that germ if you are attacked by it again.

Good luck
