This is just so funny, but honestly pisses me off when it happens to me. Ok. There is a question posted. You go answer. Not ten minutes later, 11 people come behind you giving the EXACT SAME ANSWER. What is the deal? Do they just hope that maybe theirs will be picked? I guess I just approach this whole Yahoo! Answers thing differently. I am in it for helping people... Not points. I only answer questions that they don't already have the right answer to or that I think they need my opinion. But does this irritate you? I mean look at this example please.

I think it's stupid,,,if I go to answer a question, and it's already been answered by 5 other people..my point in repeating??? I just don't answer...

When I pick a question to answer I deliberately do not look to see what anyone else has written, I don't want their answers to influence mine and I also want to get my answer on the first page cuz when voting people don't scroll to pg 2.
I do, thats why I know nobody else does, after I vote I also scroll to see if other people voted anywhere like my vote. I am terribly disappointed to see the number of inappropriate answers voted Best only because the were first to answer. I posted a question recently on the same topic. When I vote I take in all sorts of criteria, correct, first to say same thing, spelling, etc.
Edit:When I have posted even if everyone said the same thing once it is posted i have never thought to change it so I maybe a repeater but only becuz there really was only one answer and I never thought about wasting time deleting...

I think sometimes people post the same question right around the same time . Remember YA is worldwide. Especially when its a very easy question that everyone knows the answer .
I just think people are posting the same answer because yes, maybe they do want the points , but its only a game anyway .

sometimes you have been reviewing a question then you hit the back button, review another question, hit the back button, and then you go down the page and decide to answer an interesting queston, and 4-5 people are answering it at the same time as you..... by the time you hit your submit button, even more people have answered the question. Makes sense right?

It's possible that they just answered the same as you without reading all of the other answers first. Many times that's what I do. I read the question, then enter my reply, sometimes it happens to be along the same line as someone else's answer by coincidence, or we just both knew the answer.

Did you notice there? Some people have added extra comments to their answers. Some have listed many harry potter films & some have given beautiful comments. So it becomes quite informative to the asker and people who read it. It may be annoying to you because you know that answer probably or you read only the lines which you need. Plus the asker gets thrilled if he receives more answers. Now you got excited right? for getting so many answers? It's the way you take it. Got it?

Most questions only require common sense answers. So a lot are the same. Also, people are typing their answers at the same time as you are and you just submitted it first.

Sometimes people don't even read the other answers. They just read the question, then give their answer, and read the other answers afterward.
That's what I do, sometimes.
added: for example, some other dude above me basically gave the same answer I just did!

Well when people give the same answers continueously its either because the question is blant and asks for a fact or peoples opinion is the same for that question (such as a fav color question).
