I am getting so sick and tired of everyone condemning the American people. I want the world to know that America is a land of nearly 300-million unselfish and forgiving people. It seems everyone condemns us…even those of you in England.

I think Americans have been inoculated with a false sense of guilt by the rest of the world. Other nations, other peoples, would have us believe we have failed in our dream of freedom, charity, and giving. Mobs in other countries stone our embassies, we are ridiculed in foreign lands, and dissenters here at home defy our laws and make mockery of our freedoms. We are maliciously attacked by Muslim radicals where thousands of people die without cause or fault in their hearts. But, in spite of the hatred for us, when disaster strikes anywhere in world -- flood, famine, hurricane or earthquake -- we, Americans, are the first to offer aid. Not just sympathy, but food, clothing, medicine and money. Each year, to help the people of other cultures and lands, Americans contribute billions of dollars, most of it nickels and dimes from just average citizens; reaching deep into an already empty pocket out of compassion for our fellow human beings.

I want to tell you, whether you agree with the war in Iraq or not, that no other country in the world fights a war only to tax it’s people to the breaking point to restore the war-torn lands of our allies, like you Brit, as well as the enemies…Japan, Germany, Viet Nam, and now Iraq.

We Americans try very hard to live with each other and our neighbors to the North and South in peace and harmony. We have illegal invaders from the south, but we still give them free medical care, free education, and free social services. Men and women of other colors and other faiths sit in our Senate and Congress, and rule from the highest judicial court in the land.

Finally, I would have to say, the American people live with the spirit of charity and compassion in their hearts. We are ever ready, with open arms, to legally receive the peoples of other lands and give them a place to make their home; where else in the world can a person be offered the hope of life that we do in America.

So, you people out there in the world who choose to ridicule us and try to make us Americans ashamed for our unselfish acts, I can only say this: When you in England and anywhere else in the world are found wanting and need a helping hand, I hope you feel shame in your heart when see the Red, White, and Blue coming over the horizon. Yes, it will be us Americans coming to your aid to help restore your life and your country. Remember that….

Americans don't hate us. I agree with you that sometimes they have no idea about real British life like accents and working class culture. Americans only get the chance to learn what the English middle class show them, and take this to represent the typical British. It is the equivalent of us watching US tv shows and believing everybody over there is a lawyer! Bull****! Most Americans do everyday jobs like us. But no, they certainly don't hate us, I think they genuinely do regard us as friends. They're ok.

Not all Americans hate England to use your way of saying. I cant agree that if it was not for England we would be a part of Mexico. Yes, the pilgrims and then later the Revolutionary men came from Europe but England did not fight any wars or help the US to expand.

Americans don't hate England, in fact most of us consider the nations of the UK to be our strongest & closest friends, and if you can't tweak the noses of your closest friends then who's nose can you tweak?

That said ... you did not "found" England, it is the result of numerous European invasions over many centuries. Some clan chief finally decided to unite the other clans by force and declared himself king over all he could grab. His decendents thought that was a fine idea and continue that tradition to this day.

England did not make America, we made ourselves. England created 13 colonies in what was then called the New World an attempt to increase their holdings against the other European powers, and after careful consideration of the poor & blatantly unfair management England was exercising those 13 colonies decided to cut loose from England and establish themselves as an independent nation. With some help from France and a few other opportunistic friends we found it necessary to kick England in the face repeatedly to convince the crown to let go, but in the end we won our case.

America then expanded westward, acquiring territory to the Pacific & beyond, as well as bringing in the independent nation of Texas. This was usually accomplished without outside help.

Content to mind our own affairs, we begrudgingly bailed you out of WWI & WWII (you're welcome), which helped strengthen the ties between the US & UK following many years of relative apathy & mistrust. If it wasn't for us, you'd be a German outpost.

PS: Please learn the language. Country & personal names and titles such as England, America, Mexico, the self-indicative "I", etc., are capitolized. SpellCheck: it's "McDonalds", "Liverpool", "wasn't", "and poverty".

Just to point out, you bailed Europe NOT Britain out from the Nazis. For two years we fought hard to keep those bastards off our shores and it was the RAF who came out superior over the Luftwaffe. The Nazis couldn't break our air defence and didn't have the bottle to test our navy so they abandoned plans to invade Britain and focused on the USSR. It was then the Americans entered the war and helped liberate Europe. Google "Battle of Britain" :-)

As for the posters question, there isn't really any hatred between us, just annoying stereotypes which can piss off a handful of people. And I also don't believe theres any sort of anti-americanism in Europe, people just hate Bush, not the American people.

I don't hate England. I don't stereotype the British; in fact, I would love to visit if I could afford it. Britain is probably our biggest ally, even though George W. Bush is an idiot. Oh, and I like tea, too.

Great generalization! We only hate stupid people like you. As a whole, if you went to war with someone, who would be fighting along side you? THAT'S RIGHT USA!
