I would place a fire block in the stud cavities between floors if the house is a balloon framed, multi story home. If your studs continue up the wall into a room above, it is balloon framed and fire will easily spread upward. This type of framing is no longer allowed and you should create a fire block between floors.

I've sometimes added nailers across the bottom to help hold the baseboard and to brace up the wall from the pressure from a carpet installers kicker bar, otherwise no.

As answer one states. Certainly if the studs seem to be in good condition; why bother. Obviously you can hurt anything by double studding the entire house but there's no reason to.

If it is an exterior wall, It wouldn't hurt to add a couple of cross braces, easily done with the light metal ones.. (if the exterior is stucco, I would use screws instead of nails)... and if your walls contain no insulation, I would insulate at this time...

If the studs are on 16 inch centers youre good. Make sure you are fire-blocked and insulated well.
