Why do they have this power???

When we truly love someone, we actually expand our boundary of self to include that person within the definition of self..... however, the fact remains that in reality we can never have the same control on the person's life as we can have on our own self..... this is what results in the inevitable helplessness and consequent affectation...... incidentally I believe that affectation is the origin of the word 'affection'. It is the power of the beloved over his/her own self that gives the power to affect the one who loves him/her.

A long time ago I thought that love was something that you reserved for some special set of people that you had judged worthy of it.

After a while I got to thinking about what Jesus had said about turning the other cheek and loving our neighbor I put the two together and realized that he had made no exceptions in these statements. It became obvious to me that he intended that we exclude no one from the love that we are supposed to be giving. I started thinking about my idea of love and suddenly realized that I had not been loving anyone at all. I had simply been judging everyone and every thing.

Judging someone worthy of love is not love, it is only judgment. I actually started to cry when I realized this. I saw just how much of my life I had wasted being judgmental, thinking of myself as a Christian, when I was actually doing just the opposite of what Jesus had asked us to do.

I thought about the verse judge not lest ye be judged, and I understood it for the first time.

I realized that I have a lot of catching up to do. So many opportunities were wasted. I now try to apply the love that I have for the world in a universal way like Jesus asks us to do.

If I start to feel afraid and think that I see someone that I should not love because of something I have thought or heard I try to catch my mistake as soon as possible. I tell myself that I have forgot the truth and have fallen for the same old trick that had cost me so many opportunities to be loving in the past. The horror of this realization is often all that is necessary to bring me back to my senses and make me drop the judgmental nonsense I was thinking.

I still have a lot to learn about love, but at least I’m making progress.

I think that power is shared among the 2 persons who feel a love. Not that one has more power over the other one. You both affect a feeling of emotions that you both possess.

We come to the table with unconditional love, no boundaries, no restrictions. We give our heart and soul to that one we love so deeply it is never ending. Not only do they have this power upon us, but, we in turn have the same power to the other; this is lasting love forever and ever.

The heart and mind are both powerful in themselves. We have to make a conscious effort who we allow or disallow to come into our private zones....the Holy Bible tells us to "guard your heart for it is the wellspring of life." This is actually from the old testament book of Proverbs; a book of wisdom and help in daily living. When we actually have a history with a person and they have proven themselves to us (faithful, dedicated, loyal) then we can catagorize them as one that we love..until then we have to be careful using the "L" word loosely because it may come back to bite ya.

When you love someone, you give them a part of you and you both grow bigger and stronger. Whether they treat that part well or badly is no longer under you control. But it's worth the risk.

Well, you'd expect to care more about the opinion of someone you care about, than someone you don't. Make sure you hang out with people who'll take that responsibility seriously and won't use it against you!

They do not have this 'power', but you suffer from the problem of subjectivity.
