The Sun fuses hydrogen atom together to make helium. Nuclear fusion is what powers the Sun. It will continue to "burn" for many more billions of years.

but they are going to run out in 5 billion years so that causes the sun to turn in to a red giant and swallow up the first threee inner plantes and the sun gets close enough to evaporate all of the water on the earth and kill every living thing on the Earth. Sad isnt it?
