The way you would answer this is to multiply the 3 credits for the new class by the expected GPA (4 for A, 3 for B, 2 for C, and 1 for D), then add that to the 182.4 you already have. Then you divide it by 71, which will be the total number of credits you will have after finishing this course. You then have:

A = 2.73
B = 2.7
C = 2.65
D = 2.61

By the way, the original responder started out fine, but you can tell she went off on her calculations when she had you getting a 2.7 if you got a C. Your GPA is currently above a C, therefore adding a C or D to your record could only LOWER your GPA, not raise it above where it is now.
