Hi Calvin, depending on what type of Goldfish, how healthy he was to begin with & how diligent the upkeep of the water in the bowl a Goldfish could live in a bowl for quite a while. However this life would be a most unhappy one & he would eventually succumb to poor water conditions, stunting or sheer boredom.
It is quite unacceptable to keep any fish in bowls-they are like prison cells.

quite a while as long as you keep up with water changes...
however, if you keep up on the water changes so they don't die of ammonia poisoning, you're still killing your fish. think of foot binding in china except the full body. goldfish should reach anywhere from 6" to 2' depending on the type. in a bowl they stop growing after a certain point except for their insides. this is painful and will eventually kill them. it ma take years though, so this is why people say things like "my goldfish lived for 5YEARS in a bowl, so bowls are fine for them!" but when you consider goldfish should like 20YEARS it's really not an accomplishment, just fish murder :(

How big is the bowl? How often is it cleaned? Do you know how to care for fish in a bowl? Do you dechlorinate your replacement water? Do you know not to overfeed? Do you know how much to feed? How often? Do you siphon the stuff out of the bowl regularly? If you don't have answers for these questions, then the answer to yours "is not very long".

They can live in a bowl for a while, but there would be other things that would go wrong. You should get a bigger tank, at least 10 gallons.

I don't know.
I use to have 4, but my young bro killed them.
He put the whole box of food in the bowl.
