I think that once we have our happiness, the next higher stage is 'compassion for all' which is the ultimate godly quality we can ever achieve.

Making someone else happy because they deserve it and not because it makes you feel happy.
Selflessness.
It is the persuit of happiness that sometimes leads people to damaging things like materialsim, greed, lust, desire and pride.
The persuit of selflessness harms no man and is thus rewarded greatly with a feeling that surpasses the selfish goal of happiness within oneself.
First you must realise that the world is greater than yourself which is often a tricky task.

Life because no can one be happy if they have no life to live. Even people who say that they hate their life can always find one thing that they enjoy. this could be a TV show, or even a cup of coffee in the morning. These are all aspects of life, showing that our life, and the way you live it is greater than happiness.

Joy. Having happiness is situational and can change moment by moment but with the Joy of God on the inside, you could be going through the deepest trial of your life and you are still able to make it through the pain.
