1. The paucity of the fossil record.
2. Ambiguity of the fossil record -- it's impossible to know which fossils are of direct lineal ancestors, and which are dead-end also-ran "cousin" species.
3. The Cambrian Explosion. We don't know whether this was a real event caused by some horizontal transfer genetic mechanism that's no longer operating, or if it's simply an artifact of the paucity of fossils of types that are ancestral to the Cambrian forms.
4. There are some things about which we simply must say "we don't know." We don't know much about early life prior to the Oxygen Catastrophe, for example.

1. is making really selfish humans that is destroying the planet

4. humans that are able to develop medicines so that we don't die off within 40 years. Due to that there is an overage of humans on the planet creating 7 billion ppl that keep reproducing (ahem mexicans and asians) and are consuming all of the planets natural resources.
