I'm a devout Christian and I don't support the BNP. Some Christians may support them, I doubt it though. Most people in Britain today have no religion. They may have been baptised CofE but they never go near a church. RC numbers are growing thanks to large numbers of immigrants from Poland.

Many Christian groups condemn the BNP, including many members of my church who are very vocal against racism. What dissapoints us is the often near deafening silence of Muslim faith leaders against extremism and terrorism.

I am not an Anglican first, why do many British Muslims describe themselves primarily as Muslims? - it's as if they consider themselves a different race.

We need to stand together in the face of terror as Britons.

because they can

you might not agree with their views but like everyone they are allowed to have them

i don't defend their policies any more than you do - but i don't agree with many of the policies you vehemently defend......

you ask questions like this because it is difficult to say anything positive about the BNP without being called a bigot but it is a cheap shot, as bigots come in many shapes, sizes, colours and creeds..................as is apparent on yahoo everyday of the week

what other 'extrememist' do you denouce?

EDIT
i am glad that you denounce Islamic extremists - many do not and quietly support them

as for illegal wars? that is a perception - the government had the support of Parliament at the outset of the Iraq war so it was legal - whether they had the true or full facts is open to debate...........however, the government have been re=elected since the war began so if there was really such a strong feeling against the war, wouldn't they have been voted out of power?

my feeling on the war - Iraq is not worth the life of one young man or woman from any side..............

Where is your evidence. Name any prominent Christian who supports the BNP. The other day you were having a go about a Jewish woman joining the BNP, what is it with you and your hatred for other religions? Lucky for you that you live in a religiously tolerant country. That tolerance, however, may not last indefinitely.

I think you are confusing people with religion. True believers of any religion are not bigoted or ignorant people. Neither are they extremists.

I do think that many people who were born and bred in Britain feel under siege from those who have moved in over the past 30+ years. They can see their own personal values being eroded and neglected by the government.

This makes even extreme ideas seem more palatable to them than they would otherwise have been.

However, it has nothing to do with their religious belief, except on a 'clan' level. They make take strength from professing themselves to be Christian.

Who, out of your answers, is defending the BNP? I didn't see anyone agree with them.

Kamran, why do you want to highlight religious issues that could swing both ways? You're only opening yourself up to answers about extremists who have died in the name of Islam. I would delete this questions. Not to shut you up as anyone has the right to air their views but you know that you are going to take abuse and you have instigated it.

Probably for the same reason that some Muslims defend suicide bombers.
