1. Turn both into improper fractions.
Multiply the denominator by the whole number then add the numerator. 4 2/3 3x4+2=?? Do the same for 1 3/4.
2. To divide fractions, you really multiply them. Take the improper fraction for 1 3/4 and flip it over, then multiply the two fractions together and reduce/simplify as necessary.
3. You are done!

first change the whole number into a fraction(i.e. 5 would change into 5/1 or five over 1) then flip the ACTUAL fraction.(i.e. if the fraction is 3/4 its reciprocal should be 4/3) this is called a reciprocal. Your equation should read 5 over 1 divided by 4/3. now that u have flipped the fraction, you can change your sign. Your problem should read 5/1 times 4/3. from there, you multiply 5 and 4 (20) and 1 and 3(3) then simplify. The answer should be 20/3 or 6 and 2/3. hope i helped!

4 2/3 divided by 1 3/4
turn your mixed numbers into improper fractions first
14/3 divided by 7/4
then invert the 7/4 and multiply
14/3 x 4/7
= 14 x 4 divided by 3 x 7
= 56 / 21
= 2.666 also can be shown as 2 2/3

Okay,
You have to make them become improper fractions first. Do you remember how to do this? For 4 2/3, you must do 3*4+2 =14/3 and for 1 3/4, you must do 4*1+3= 7/4
Now you can divide the two fractions:
14/3 divided by 7/4
(To divide, you have to turn over the 2nd fraction i.e 7/4 will become 4/7. Also, when you turn a fraction over, you must change the sign i.e, DIVIDE will become MULTIPLY)
14/3 divided by 7/4
14/3 multiply by 4/7
(Now you can cross multiply, "cross multiplication" is dividing numbers in "cross" lines i.e, you can divide 14 by 7 and 4 by 3)
(If you do it on paper, you'll understand cross multiplication better)
(Here, you can divide 14 by 7)
14/3 multiply by 4/7
2/3 multiply by 4/1
(Now, you have to do 2*4=8 and 3*1=3)
2/3 multiply by 4/1= 8/3= 2 2/3

First make the fractions improper
(14/3)/(7/4)
dividing is the same as multiplying by the reciprocal (the number upside down)
14/3*4/7
simplify
2/3*4/1=8/3

Multiply the coefficents by the denominator and add the numerator to get rid of them.
4 2/3 = 14/3
1 3/4 = 7/4
14 7
---- / ---- When dividing fractions, you multiply by the
3 4 reciprocal.
(14/3) * (4/7)
Multiply the numerators, and denominators straight across.
answer=56/21
Now reduce it.
8/3 = 2 2/3
Or just get a calculator :]

Youe first make the two fractions improper
14/3 divide 7/4
next you take the reciprocal of 7/4 and multiply
14/3 *4/7
now you simplify
2/3*4/1
Multiply
8/3
Convert to mixed fraction
2 2/3

you have to make them improper fraction by multiplying the denominator by the whole number then add the numerator now you have 14/3 and 7/4 now you HAVE TO OR IT WORK WORK WITH EVERY PROBLEM swith the 7/4 to its reciprical 4/7 then you have to change the problem to multiplcation you times the numerator to together and get 98 and the denominator equal 12 now you simplify it see how many times 12 goes into 98 with long division then you get 8and2/12 you simlify the 8/12 to 1/6 1/6 is your anser hope it helped you!
