Kids are in a critical period in which they must learn the basics between what is right and wrong. An adult is assumed to already know this.

Kids have to learn very early on what is right and what is wrong. It's easier to relax the rules when they are older and have better judgement of these things than it is to crack down on them when you realise that they don't have good judgement after all.

just another double standard. The kids must be taught right and the adult did not learn when he was young.
