No, that's like saying a hemophiliac gets sick because his blood won't clot when he bleeds. Smokers are effected by smoking issues and are not any more susceptible to colds and flu, ect. than the next person.

I have been a smoker for 45 years now, and I wish that I have never picked up my first cigarette. Regarding routine illnesses due to smoking, I rarely ever even got a cold, or anything else that would impair my quality of life. BUT, I'm only 57 years young now, and I'm struggling with emphysema and COPD, which is a direct result of a lifetime of smoking. I would urge anyone who thinks that it is cool to smoke cigarettes to try sticking your head in a plastic bag and see how great it feels to be unable to breath. It is one of the most frightening experiences that most people will ever go through. If you don't smoke: Never start - If you do smoke: Quit if you can - If you can't quit: I'll be seeing you in the next life much, much sooner than you think.

The government has required that cigarette company's to put the disclaimer on each pack cigarettes since the 1960s and people continue to smoke. I'm 56 years old and have been smoking for 45 years and I'm healthy. My biggest concern is colon cancer, I had a colonospky and they found 11 polyps, so there are too many other things that can kill a person, so why do people single out smoking. My mom died of breast cancer and she didn't smoke

Haven't you heard the "scientists" have discovered a greater risk to cancer related deceases than smoking can you believe it its called eating.
If you are obese and have always been you are at greater risk for cancer than a heavy smoker, so doesn't that tell you that lies have been told somewhere just because someone wanted to get their way. isn't it always about being in power and getting your way isn't that what politics has come to, you want the power so much that you will promise anything to get it, and like most lies soon forget the ones you pormised and knew you would have no power to do anything about but hay it got you votes. the state of evey country and government is so sad and corrupt we should fire everyone and hire poeple that have never done this were never affiliated with any government thinking, campaign anything, I'm sure the world would be a better place for it, of course they would be voted on intelligence and compassion and integrity, not by how much money their family has, or how much influence with the underworld and oil sheaks and so on.
But of course it is our fault because we elected them.

Smoking adversely effects more than just the lungs. It effects several organs of the body. The website below was very helpful to me in learning a lot about my body. It's informative and can be personalized. Remember nothing replaces seeing your own doctor and asking questions directly.
Go to www.realage.com
There's a test to take. Plus, information on how smoking effects the entire body. It's scary. Quitting smoking is likely the best thing anyone can do for them self and their loved ones.

One negative effect appears to be on the Brain of the Smoker.
Why else would they keep littering the sidewalks and driveways with their cigarette butts?
