my wife's uncle was a police officer and he was told to do as much. he no longer works there because of the corruption.a policeman who is a good cop is truthful, but to assume it is not done would be naive at best.

freedom of information act has exposed tactics used by federal law enforcement during COINTELPRO and susequent investigations to have informants lie to get suspects evicted, slander(lying) campains, illegal break ins, wiretaps. is the message being sent that lying or breaking the law is not wrong, except in certain situations.

i think so, two bogus arrests with both cases dismissed. police reports full of lies, ie. cops lying when then tell suspect tell me what you have in the car and i'll put in a good word for you. the DA has that right, not the police. another example of the hypocricy and lies. the feds are the biggest hypocrites out there.

lol you are trying to advocate common sense... that my friend only exist in Nirvana. politicians truly believe they are above the law, and when they have a road block.. they just make new laws to protect themselves. Bonds did lie to a grand jury, but was his use of a tool (steroids) to be the best he can really a crime? NO!!! how absurd. If politicians were held to the same standards, every politician would be in prison. Only when it's in a party's interest to expose one of their own for their own political gain does this issue even come to light.

Yes, but what fascinates me is that police officers do lie to get a confession. They also take a course of how to lie in order to obtain the info or else they coerce or beat people for a confession. Judges, politicians, clergymen, priest, and whathave you lie just to not be prosecuted. How is it that we are put on this earth to be judged by people in a court of law that are alcoholics, druggies, cheaters, liars, abusers, and pedophiles? Did you know that a felon who has been convicted of a drug crime in Texas can be an attorney, but not a notary public and also a felon can get permission to be a licensed physician and not a physicians assistant? Clearly someone out there making up these rules are on crack! I truly believe that all athletes are on some type of steroids because it is physically impossible for one person to be that strong or fast except God himself. Noone on this earth will judge me except God!

The problem is, American fascination for winners, faster, stronger and better athletes, have compelled athletes to do what is needed to keep their competitive edge.

Further, admission to using steroids can economically turn a LeBron James into a Michael Vick; the bad publicity would ruin his finances, and his career.

Thus, there is plenty of incentive to be less than truthful, as opposed to being candid about using steroids. Even before a grand jury.

Bonds was between a rock and a hard place; he made a bad decision, and it is up to the US Attorneys office, a jury and the District Court judge to decide his fate.

Personally, I hope he pleads out to felony perjury charges, and gets probation. Bonds should not be crucified for wanting to satisfy baseball fans' hunger for him to be the best; as well as his own desire to over achieve.

I believe so. This is like another scooter libby trial. People are just hunting for blood without a good motive to do so.

Lying is one thing... lying under oath is another thing entirely.

"Police reports are often embellished"...LOL. I don't suppose you can produce any documentation to back up that vague accusation, can you?

I thought not.
