It is better to light just one little candle, than to stumble in the dark.
That as far as you light just one little candle, all you need's a tiny spark.
If we'd all say a prayer that the world would be free.
The wonderfull dawn of a new day we'll see,
And if every one lit just one little candle,
What a bright world this would be.
When the world is dark and dreary,
and your way is hard to find.
Don't let your heart be weary,
just keep this thought in mind.

I think your candle is a metaphor not really lighting a candle per se.. A candle can be lit..but it can burn so long.. I think that candle represents a way to find peace in our world. Not necessarily a burning candle but someway to find harmony. We all need to find a way to light up our part of the world and in doing the rest of the world will do the same. No fighting but find peace within us all over. I understand fully your question and I might add a very good one.. Thanks.

Are you speaking literally or figuratively? I once tried to help my first graders understand how one small act of kindness from one person could have a very positive impact by telling them to think of their house being totally dark, which would make it difficult to find their way around and might be frightening as well, and then to imagine the difference if they just lit one candle. I was feeling all warm and fuzzy and imagining I had really "enlightened" my students, when one of them sadly said, "And if someone opens a window, it will blow that candle right out!"

I am afraid that I would have to agree with Tara, we'd probably burn the place down.
But, if we are the candle that gets lit, it be a much brighter place. Some of us have been told that we can't hide our candles under a basket. That we need to shine. Like He said, "Let there be light!"

If we all lit one little candle, and we did so because we wanted to, yes.
The world would be a MUCH brighter place!

Can't. We have a cat in the house. No lit candles and no plants allowed! If by "brighter place" you mean a "better place", my suggestion would be to give blood. I can no longer donate. I was a regular, up until May...

6.7 billion candles Will make the price of candles hit the ceiling, but the amount of light produced would be less than the light produced by the light bulbs in a city with 1 million citizens.

If we all did something nice, like a good deed or smiled, or hugged someone, or made an effort to listen to someone, or to try and understand someone, the whole world WOULD be a nicer place.
Maybe make MONDAY a "Good Deed Day" - nothing spectacular, some a token of care.....Pass it on !
