Nobody here can give you legal advice -- not even an attorney. The best personal advice I can offer is that you can't afford to NOT have an attorney.

My brother was married to the most conniving, vituperative Bee-Atch on the planet. She made 5 times as much as he did, had forged his signature on mortgage documents, had filed false police reports alleging he molested his kids and was dealing drugs, etc. His life was in a tailspin. He thought he couldn't afford an attorney. The stupid side to this tale is that his best friend from high school was a high-powered divorce attorney and he hadn't even called him! After the 4th of 5th 3:00 AM drunken crying session phone call from him I finally convinced him to get an attorney. The outcome? She paid all of his legal bills, pays him $2,500 a month in child support and another $1,500 in spousal support, covers his medical insurance, and recently paid him well into 6 figures for the division of equity (without the forged mortgage!) on their home.

Get a lawyer! You NEED one!

If you wait until after the divorce is final one spouse can file and stick the ex with the responsibility for all of the bills. My sister's ex did this to her shortly after their divorce years ago.
I would suggest calling a bankruptcy lawyer and asking or asking your divorce attorney.
If you are going through a divorce you are probably not on the best of terms with the ex so waiting to file might make sense.

GET A LAWYER. It's been 2 years since you filed for divorce.

Being cheap on the front end by not paying a lawyer has already cost you money.

Remember, anyone who attempts to defend herself in a court of law "has a fool for a client."

Yes. Once papers are filed in any state, all marital assets/debts are frozen until divided by the courts.
