Holding your breath is the worst possible thing you could do if you find yourself exposed to vacuum. Since the air in your lungs is the only compressible part of your body, if you hold it in, it will expand and rip apart your lungs, killing you.
If you let the air out, your body can survive without oxygen for a minute or two, perhaps allowing a rescue.
Burning/Freezing is not an issue since there is nothing to carry the heat away, and it will take a lot longer than 2 minutes to kill you.

Prof. Zikzak's answer is the only really good answer. You would not immediately freeze in space because you would lose your body heat via radiation, which is a slow process. Holding your breath would only cause your lungs to explode; ironically, you'd maximize your chances of survival by *not* trying to hold your breath. You wouldn't explode, either, because your skin is actually pretty tough. You'd probably balloon a little, though.
There's actual, empirical evidence of this - people have been accidentally exposed to vacuums on Earth before.

No you cannot survive in the outer space if you held your breath. The problem is not your breth. The problem is the vaccum. You must have noticed that pressure builds as you boil water in closed container. Conversely water can also be boiled if you decrease the pressure of the container coz it gives water enough room to expand into its gaseous state with whatever energy is left in its molecules.
Similarly, the blood in your arteries and veins will boil and your whole body will crack open as the vapour escapes into the void of space rupturing your blood vessels along with the air in your lungs which will be sucked out. not to mention that if you are not facing the suns rays the temperature around you will be absolute zero. And you will be frozen within seconds that is before you die.

Your breath is the last thing you would be able to hold,
Your body presently stays like it is when about 14 pounds per square inch of atmospheric pressure is applied to it by the surrounding atmosphere. To do that, the inside of your body pushes back at 14 pounds of pressure per square inch.
If you reduce the atmospheric pressure around your body to Zero PSI (outer space), then your body would explode very, very quickly. The immediate failure points would be any normal openings into the structure of your body such as nose, mouth, etc., etc.

No you could not because once you are exposed to the enviroment of space you would cook on the side facing the sun and freeze on the side facing away from the sun,, If you remove the sun from the equasion then you would just freeze,,

The moisture in your eyes and skin would boil off, you would be cooked by radiation, and you would probably have severe rupture of blood vessels near your skin.
then you would start to freeze within seconds
