it's totally fine and very common believe it or not. and hey, at least that way you don't have to run around changing your name everywhere.

I think it would be an insult to a husband if a wife did that. What about any kids that may eventuate - would the wife have the same thoughts in that regard?

I think the kids would wonder as they grew old enough to start asking questions.

My sister kept her last name! She's married to a doctor. The both of them are very strong & independent. There is nothing wrong with it. I would discuss this w/ your fiance 1st so that it isn't a total surprise to him at the wedding.

I say do what you feel is best for yourself. Before I got married, I told my soon-to-be husband not to get offended, but I was going to hyphen his last name onto mine. I explained to him that both my parents have the same last name (and is not related in any kind of way) and to me, that was unique...that was why I wanted to keep it. He totally understood, and plus...now a days, alot of women are doing that, they hyphenate the last names.

Sure it is. Its so much easier than running to all these government offices, also if you ever divorce its an even bigger pain. Just keep your ast name unless your hubby has a problem with it. Its not really a big deal to change your name (except for the paperwork)

It is okay and I guess it depends on how the man feels. I personally think a woman should take his name or he should take hers and they have the same last name. Unity .
In NY you can take both surnames and combine them into a whole different last name using both names. Isnt that interesting.

It's legally okay, but it depends on the guy. Some would get offended, some wouldn't care, and some wouldn't care if you had a good reason.
Discuss it with your boyfriend/fiance to see how they'd feel.

It is fine. In my case I would keep my name in the professional field as it is more uncommon and thus stands out more. Also my whole carer I have gone by that name.
In day to day life I would take his.
