- The German Messerschmidt 109 had the first turbo-charged jet engine. First jet air plane.
The Allied pilots couldn't believe how fast they were.
- The British developed radar technology, which was new during the Battle of Britain, but it help to turn the tide of the battle. With radar the British could focus all their air craft at one location.
- Camouflage technology started. WW2 saw the first use of camouflage uniforms. ( white uniforms in winter, tan in the desert etc.and camouflage for equipment)
- WW2 saw many medical advancements ( penicillin ) and they improved the methods of getting first-aid to wounded soldiers.( front-line mash units)
- Helicopter technology started in WW2, the Germans fielded the first troop carrying helicopter, the FA-223. America used small helicopters in the China-Burma-India theater for medical evacuation. (they could only carry one wounded soldier)
- Canned foods,plastic, and synthetic rubber were all a result of WW2 technology.
- ENIAC ( Electronic Numerical Integrator and Computer) was the first electronic,digital computer capable of reprogramming to solve a full range of computer problems. It was designed to calculate artillery firing tables. They began constructing it in 1943 and it contained over 17,000 vacuum tubes.
