Does the NETGEAR - 5-PORT 10/100 FAST ETHERNET SWITCH take a USB-type input from modem?

I hope the question is clear. Basically I want to connnect my modem which has a USB-type output to the switch, so that I can then connect 3-4 systems to the switch.

Well, it wont work this way. You will need a USB router! Switches don't allow internet sharing this way they do not have any ability to ROUTE traffic to the "WAN/Internet" from your local network.

So get a usb Wan port router (hard to find) or get an ethernet based modem. (usually can be obtained from your dsl provider!)
