People have theories that the universe is a massive sphere shape. although practically impossible, lets say we could travel long and fast enough (and could live long enough) to travel upward through this sphere, and we managed to get outside the sphere.. then what's there?

Nothingness?
i don't believe that because nothing is something, blackness is something, no air is something.

If the universe ends with a 'wall' or 'force field' then what's on the other side of the wall/force field?

If the edge of the universe is some form of mirror image reflecting the universes own universe.. (slightly confusing myself) then we would have to be able to travel into the reflection, and then once we get into the end of that reflection.. another reflection?? but all of this would be taking up space wouldn't it? so whats on the outer of these reflections?

I think it would have to be something science can't explain.
Any ideas?

Good question..in addition, the universe is also expanding...question is, expanding to what?

Although a pure dark vacuum can be described as 'something' it is a void devoid of matter (and energy). Our universe has been described as starting from a Big Bang that expanded from a singularity (with infinite density). No one evidently has attempted to claim that our Universe expanded into space occupied by the debris of another universe and a pure concept should hold that our universe ends wherever the original mass and energy ends ((while energy (light) continues to expand at the speed of light into the void)). Because of gravitational attraction, space is curved and it is possible that all mass and energy are constrained and not free to endlessly expand into the void. If there is enough mass the Universe will likely contract and collapse all mass and energy back into a singularity. One explanation for the orbit of our moon is that it 'believes' that it is traveling straight ahead but because of the combined gravitational attraction of the two bodies its path through space is actually curved into an orbit. That is unlike swinging a bucket of water in a circle which requires a rope. The path of the moon follows a circle around the earth but the path is curved only where the moon's mass is concentrated (and not a permanent curved 360 degrees groove).

With all due respect, this question is unanswerable with any sort of factual information. Theories and ideas from the man in the street are a dime a dozen.

There is nothing on Earth that prepares one to consider the size and nature of deep space. Right now Astronomers and Scientists can see objects in deep space with our finest optical equipment at distances of 13 Billion Light Years away from the Earth in all directions. Using Radio Telescopes scientists can detect objects in deep space that are 40 Billion Light Years away from the Earth. Now those distances are not the end of space, they are just where our current equipment's technical limitations stop providing us with any useable information. They have not ever detected any "end" to deep space. The idea of some kind of "wall" at the end of space is an earth based concept forced upon us by the limitations of standard experiences within memory in our minds. It is not normal for us to see or experience something that does not end.

One Light Year is about 6 Trillion Miles.

In the paragraphs above I told you that scientists have detected objects in deep space 40 Billion Light Years away. Please take a moment and multiply:

6 Trillion TIMES 40 Billion and write down the answer in Miles...

That is as far as we can "see" now with our best gadgets. Maybe in years to come some new development or technique will arrive which will extend our capability out to 50 - 60 - or 70 Billion Light Years...Who knows. We just have to wait and find out.

Until then speculation on such things as walls and reflections at the end of space are a waste of time since there are no real answers.

The universe expands radially so it must be a sphere.
It is a quantum entity so it must have a maximum and a minimum size.
The radial expansion equals the speed of light,it expands into nothing and diminishes in density, beyond the minimum density it can't exist, this makes it finite.
It precedes matter, which is a manifestation of space,as it reaches it's maximum size it reverts to a quantum state and the matter becomes space.
It can then proceed to the end of it's cycle.
The universe likely has a maximum size of about 6 billion light years in radius,it could be much older but no bigger.

You just have to accept that there is such a thing as nothing. It just carries the name of "space" because people need to call it something. But really, it is just the absence of everything else. There is no wall, or force field, the galaxies just stop appearing out of the spaceship window, so-to-speak.

Einstein theorised that space bends in on itself, so that if you travelled in a straight line, in any direction, it would eventually lead back to where you started (the rest of the universe would have moved quite a bit in the meantime, however).

Many people think that the universe goes on and on, but it can't. Its growing into something but we don't know what! Beyond the universe, is nothing, no time, no stars, nothing. Within 30 years, Scientists believe that we will be able to see the ends of the universe. Maybe beyond our universe, is another Parallel universe?

Every minute and second the universe is growing, and getting closer to it's horrible end.

Your problem is that you are confined to thinking that everything that started had to end. Bcoz that is how we humans have seen everything happen around us. But unlike this, space is infinite. It doesnt end. So there is no force field at the end or mirror image reflections. Its just continues infinitely.

The universe is made up of many galaxies. Space is infinitive.
There is a beginning and end to all objects in space. However, space has no beginning or end.

The Universe Will End Because Our Neighbour Galaxy (Andromeda) Is Moving Towards Our Galaxy The Milky Way.

In 3000,000,000,000 years time our galaxies will collide and rip eachother apart.

earth will be spat out into the emptyness of space.

the universe is not limited .it is infinite space without beginning or end.it is not something you can imagine.in this infinite space everything happens-worlds are born and pass away. the space in which all this happens is always there.
as a person one has to accept this and live ones life in the Infinite.

Try to regard all this as happening in your own mind!
