what i miss about 90's hiphop was that every act was progressive in a sense of musical intelligence. rappers had something to say and understood the relationship between rapping and creating a song, through a more progressive song structure and knowledge. the industry was different as well. the focus of hiphop music was making good music instead of a good paycheck. once the westcoast got a stranglehold of rap, everything was hardcore after that.

It was the Golden Age of Hip Hop. You had a wide variety of styles, all M.C.s came with original lyrics and nobody sounded the same. Beat were all original. It's still the era that I listen to the most.

90's hip was different than todays hip hop in many different aspects. It is not neccessarily all good or all bad. It also depends on which coast u listened to as well. People can not say all this "gangsta rap" now. Cuzz the 90's rap game had a lot of gangsta themes too. Remember LA..was talkin bout it back in the day. Rap all stars all inthe same game. Drug game was in it, but its in it now. Just a evolved edition. Its a lil more Versace, D&G flashy now. There are sum better beats now. But i think it was deeper. MCs had a harder statement, cuzz they were breakin door sum doors.

it was smooth and what made it unique compared to todays rap, is they did not make up their own words and they had a story to tell. I still listen to warren g and nate dogg and coolio.
