Trying to find the name of a movie.?

Saw this movie about 20 years ago on channel 4 a fairly grim foreign language drama about a woman who enters the world of prostituition, guided by a friend. Can't remember much else not even which foreign language, it was in a contempary setting.

Could it be the German film "Christiane F"? A teen gets involved in drugs and prostitution.

at least you have to remember the character name in the movie, and then ask by google or imdb.com.
