In the morning of Japan sometimes you can hear a bug buzzing as if it were the wake up call like a rooster here in the US. Is it some kind of beetle?

I agree, it is most likely a "cicada". We have them all over the place here in Arizona. Big beetles that hang out in the trees during summer, they usually quiet down when you walk right by them.

Sounds like a locust. They make a loud buzzing noise for a long time, stop, and do it again. I don't know if they have locust in Japan, but is sounds like one.

I think nesmith is likely right - only you'll get farther looking up 'cicada'. 'Locust' is a common N. American misnaming, like 'buzzard'.
