I had an undiagnosed spinal disorder during my undergrad at a very challenging institution and scraped by with a 2.66 GPA. After graduating and getting my health under control, I got a masters degree in education with a 3.73 GPA. (I can't recall why they accepted me, but they did). I recently took the GREs and scored a 700 verbal, 630 math (still waiting on the writing, but considering that I've been writing professionally for 5 years, I anticipate a good score). I'm applying to MS degrees in publishing and professional writing. Will my lower undegrad GPA be a barrier in the way of getting into further masters or PhD programs?

You should have no trouble. The only possible problem would be if you went to a respected undergraduate program, followed by a lesser graduate school, and now wanted to go to a respected graduate program, but your high GRE score would indicate that you are capable of the work. It seems to me that the most likely interpretation schools would make would be that you improved with age.

Don't freak out. Whenever you attend a new school, remember that the grading system varies. You will be alright trust me. Just study hard and stay focused. Never forget that anything worth achieving takes work. Good luck my friend. Delphian
