That it was a complete setup scripted by Seligula so his BFF Loria could take home another (totally undeserved) trophy.
Some owners, simply by evaluation of their individual, personal quality, deserve a championship trophy. Others do not. Loria, by having one so far, has a 100% discrepancy between his "deserve" and "possess" columns.
Also...
2007 MLB income == $6.1 billion
2007 MLB player payroll == $2.5 billion
2007 MLB money not going to players == $3.5 billion (fine, deduct half a billion for staff, front office, draft picks, minor league subsidies, operations and maintenance, and scouting; there's still a lot not spent)
average 2007 income per team == $203.3 million (which not every team receives, but it's a LOT of money)
2007 Marlins payroll == $15 million
2006 Marlins revenue sharing dividend == $31 million (and won't be smaller for 2007)
2007 Marlins profit == at least $16 million, but using average income, could soar to $170 million. Somewhere in the lower half of that range ($16M - $170M), probably. A lot of liquid cash.
Percentage of cost towards a new Marlins ballpark MLB and/or the team is willing to front: zero.
Percentage of cost towards a new Marlins ballpark MLB and/or the team want underwritten by governments of Miami, Dade County, and State of Florida: 100%.
Number of times during the offseason that Seligula, DuPuy*, or Loria will whine about needing a new ballpark == every other time they open their mouths.
Selig and Loria want a new playpen? Let them pay for the thing. (It's not like Loria is going to be a long-time owner anyway; he'll be out in five, ten years. If the new park gets built, the team value goes way up, and that's when he'll cash out.)
-----
* Does anyone know how to pronounce "DuPuy"? I've never heard it and could guess at at least four different ways.

You know the Marlins have never won their division? They have gone to the World Series as a wild card both time and are the only team to win a world series w/o ever winning a divison, and they did it more than once. I think their goal should be to just win their division for the first time ever, even though they proved it's not neccessary. They have never lost a playoff series either as mentioned. I would love to see them win because it shows everyone that it's not how much money you make playing the game, it's how much heart you put into it.

i'd seem for a 2nd sign that the worldwide is coming to an end, in basic terms to make confident. heavily, the two championships the Marlins have have been the two with stacked communities that promptly dismantled right here years. P.S. i'm going to have an interest to be certain how your Nationals prediction works out, possibly with the Marlins out of the image and the Braves observing their reign fall, you would be onto something.

I was surprised in 1997, but otherwise uninvolved. I was thrilled that they beat the hated Yankees in 2003. It depends who they play in 2008. Would I rule it out? I would have ruled out the Rockies going to the World Series in 2007 and the Astros in 2005, so I would not rule the Marlins out either.

Here comes the fire sale!
Time for my Dodgers to get good players on the cheap when the cheap a** Marlins owners decide to wreck that team.
It's happened every time the Marlins won the World Series before.

I bet I would be surpised, but I would be even more surpised if the Chicago Cubs won it next year. Like I say, right now, it could be any one of the teams in Major League Baseball that could make it, but they just can't go out thier and lose, and expect to make hte playooffs, you have to win games, and even the imporant games, and even games that you are on the verge of being knocked out of the playoffs.

I would be shocked because the Marlins don't have a good team but that doesn't really matter.

I imagine the reaction would be the same as if the AZ Cardinals could put together a winning season....wholesale fainting.

I probably wouldn't care because they're not the team I root for. Like when the Cardinals won in 06'...it didn't really affect me much.

I would be happy because they would win it with a payroll that is less than arod's salary for this coming year. besides all they have to do is make the playoffs because they have never lost a playoff series in their history
