They don't - they care that he lied to them in his grand jury testimony.
Have to watched the news at all? None of his charges are due to him using steroids - they are due to him LYING about not using.

If he replaced right into a staggering guy, it would be a touch distinctive tale. human beings would sense undesirable that a staggering guy had sunk to the point of cheating. yet in his case, the reaction (myself blanketed) is "No marvel in any respect. he's scum." And he's scum. He does not love playing baseball. He loves being Barry Bonds. His undesirable attitude and cheating have executed not something yet harm the sport of baseball. you're ideal, he isn't the sole cheater. surely, baseball as an entire is thoroughly in the bathroom, and has been ever because of the fact George Steinbrenner offered up a pile of expertise to "rebuild" the Yankees in the previous due Nineteen Seventies. That replaced into the actual beginning up of the "win in any respect expenditures" mentality which, alongside with greed, Prima Donna-ism, and conceitedness, have destroyed the sport. so a ways as i'm in touch, none of his information count quantity, nor do Mark McGwire's. Why do not human beings comprehend that there is a distinction between a winner and champion.? without honor, graciousness, and sportsmanship, there at the instant are not any champions, and there isn't any interest - purely advertising and greed. maximum domicile runs, lifetime: Henry Aaron maximum domicile runs in a 162-interest season: Roger Maris maximum domicile runs in a 154-interest season: Babe Ruth maximum no-hitters, life-time: Nolan Ryan. those men are my actual baseball heroes. not outlaws like Barry Bonds.

See here's the thing. In 2003 if Barry told the truth to the Grand Jury if he used sterioids and wouldn't have gotten in trouble by the government and be still hated. Almost got away with it. But now they found out that he lied and he's in deep trouble and is really hated.

Honestly, they really don't. They were investigating the trafficking of illegal performance enhancing drugs and called Bonds in to testify. He lied during that testimony, so they are obligated to prosecute him.

You guys are clueless. Performance enhancing DRUGS can have negative side effects. Someone like Bonds who uses such drugs is A) Doing something illegal. B) Influencing other athletes to follow his example. The government cares because of the health problems from such usage AND Bonds lying to the juries. Are you guys saying performance enhancing drugs are OK? Or is winning at any cost, OK? Here i included the law directly from the federal web site...
Federal law placed anabolic steroids in Schedule III of the Controlled Substances Act (CSA) as of February 27, 1991. The possession or sale of anabolic steroids without a valid prescription is illegal. Simple possession of illicitly obtained anabolic steroids carries a maximum penalty of one year in prison and a minimum $1,000 fine if this is an individual’s first drug offense. The maximum penalty for trafficking is five years in prison and a fine of $250,000 if this is the individual’s first felony drug offense. If this is the second felony drug offense, the maximum period of imprisonment and the maximum fine both double. While the above listed penalties are for federal offenses, individual states have also implemented fines and penalties for illegal use of anabolic steroids.(15)
The International Olympic Committee (IOC), National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), and many professional sports leagues (e.g. Major League Baseball, National Basketball Association, National Football League (NFL), and National Hockey League) have banned the use of steroids by athletes, both because of their potential dangerous side effects and because they give the user an unfair advantage. The IOC, NCAA, and NFL have also banned the use of steroid precursors (e.g. androstenedione) by athletes for the same reason steroids were banned. The IOC and professional sports leagues use urine testing to detect steroid use both in and out of competition.(16)
The Anabolic Steroid Control Act of 2004 - placed 32 additional steroids in Schedule III and expanded DEA’s regulatory and enforcement authority regarding steroids
The goverment DOES CARE! thats why they have gone after him, not just for lying, but for the steroid use also.

They don't care about that he did it, they care that he lied in court, after swearing under oath. It is pretty serious. In court you are required to tell the truth, it is not a passive joke. Other steroid users admitted it, he's just too caught up in the fact that he thinks he is a record holder.

Because it's against the law for one thing. It's also against the law to commit perjury. So, he broke the law and then lied about breaking the law, which is also against the law. Got it?

They have to make it look like they care since many kids copy what the pros do.This is a way to get the heat off the administration for the war.
