better kick 'em while they're down, cause they have the best recruiting class in the nation coming into south bend next year.

Yes, they suck - this year. And yes, they have lost some big games in the past few seasons. But the fact of the matter is that ND is the most storied program in college football. People from all over the country go to the school, and they have fans literally everywhere, not just mainly localized fans like the state schools. Once an ND fan, always an ND fan. Their fans are very loyal and there are a lot of them.

Weis is not the problem here. He's dealing with a young group and everything is not coming together. Clausen is not the quick study Quinn was. And Weis turned Quinn from a loser into a Heisman contender. Give them time - they will be back. And they will be back under Weis.

But whoever said they are like the Cowboys or the Yankees was right. As long as there is college football, there's going to be Notre Dame. They have more national championships, hall of famers and Heisman winners than any other team in history. And that will only continue. Better get used to it.

It's because they're notre dame and people still care (or want to see them play even WORSE).

Loved or hated, good or bad, Notre Dame will always be talked about in college football.

It's like talking about The NFL and the Dallas Cowboys, Major Leauge Baseball and the Yankees....it's just the way it is.

Oh yeah the "best recruiting" class. Yeah where have we heard that before. Why not just admit that Weiss is a lousy coach? When Florida International has a better offense then the so called offensive genius brings out it isn't just the players. I do agree though that they get the attention because everyone has an opinion on them. Although it is their own fault they are hated for the most part. People are sick of seeing them get over-hyped and over-rated simply because THEIR PAST. Ohhh they won 11 National Championships, how many have they won since the BCS? For that matter when WAS the last time they won one? When was the last time they won ANY BOWL GAME? They SUCK people, deal with it. They are likely to continue to suck until they get a better coach.

The dudes answering below are right - they'll be back. They'll be right back to being overrated, winning the easy games, getting an invite to a bowl because it's good for any bowl to get them, then right back to getting smashed in the bowl ..... because they'll be overrated. Again.

I just don't know how they always stay ranked -- yea they used to be good, but lately they haven't been very good - new starters, freshman, bad moods, bad karma, whatever the excuse, they seem to just be a huge name but I don't know why either...
