The Model T was not an invention. The Model T was the first automobile to be produced on an assembly line. The assembly line would be considered an invention of the industrial revolution. The internal combustion engine (1876 by Daimler) would be considered and industrial revolution invention, but that was invented long before the Model T came out. Actually, Ford Motor Company was around for quite a few years (I want to say since 1897, but I'd have to check that) before they created the Model T. The Model T was a revolution in itself, as previously only the wealthy elite could afford automobiles. The assembly line made cars cheaper to produce and sell, so that the masses were able to afford them (especially since Ford was paying them $5 a day).

I believe that it is held up as an development of some technologies that were from the Industrial Revolution because of the use of the assembly line, which became the model for other manufacturing industries. However assembly lines had previously existed the manufacture of Springfield rifles during the (American) Civil War is also thought the starting point.

The Henry Ford Model T hit the streets about 100 years ago. At the time of it's launch upon a gleefully awaiting public, Henry Ford declared, "this automobile will run on ethanol, the fuel of the future."

So, what happened? To the ethanol idea, I mean?

Looks like we're all going to have to go down the road mapped out for us by Henry Ford and start using ethanol in our cars.

As for the Industrial Revolution - this got started way back in the late 18th century but got into top gear sometime around the 1850s here in UK.
