Do not let other peoples failures influence you. I have no idea why people tell others horror stories about stuff, but I have a GOOD story for you. I just started grad school for graphic design at a really tough school in San Francisco, and It has been hard. I was always a strait a student, and I was getting my rear handed to me my first semester as a grad for type 1. I worked my tail off, and impressed the head of the department because I was the worst in her class, but worked and passed with a good grand and impressed the heck out of her. I am now in type 2, different teacher, but am at the top of the class for it. Yeah, i got kicked and it was hard, but because I didnt give up and worked my tail off, i am doing great.

Never mind what people say about those who flunk out. The people who flunk out weren't very serious to begin with.

Here are some tips for you:
1. Never cut classes.
2. Follow attendance rules to the letter, especially in the clinical area.
3. Keep up with your reading assignments.
4. Turn in all assignment and projects on time - no excuses.
5. Apply new learning to what you already know.
6. If you're having a problem understanding something don't be afraid to ask the instructor to clarify it for you. No question is dumb.
7. Remember that your instructors want you to succeed and wat you to be a good nurse who will give first-rate care.
8. Take notes in class.
9. If the instructor gives handouts and/or outlines and/or fact sheets, make sure to keep them and use them.
10. Enjoy what you are doing.

Good luck in your nursing career.

Congratulations! You have a great opportunity. If you are going to a decent school, it shouldn't be the case that many people flunk out of class. Maybe one or two out of 40 or so might flunk out, but that means that 38 or 39 passed. The key is that as soon as there is something you can't figure out, get help. Otherwise, you would fall further and further behind.
