Of course. I always wanted to plant cherry trees. But i cant b/c they could never survive in texas. Maybe a willow tree will be nice too.
I know one thing for sure is that when i have a child i will plant a tree and so the tree will grow as my child grows. Something he can sit under when he grows older and learns to appreciate all that his mother has done for him.
even if by then i am long gone. At least the tree will be there in memory of my happiness to know that i got the greatest gift from God.

You should plant trees for occassions - They make very cool time markers. As they grow, you can look back on the time/occassion with a beautiful, developmental metaphor or sorts, so you could be like - remember when I planted that Redwood as a pinecone 1000 years ago for your 21st birthday? ...Yeah, that was cool.
