SO, I couldn't buy cheaper if I wanted to. $50 for just meat. I have yet to buy the salad, pickles/olives, bread which will set me back another $15 oh yes and drinks $5. so Altogether $70 for a dinner for 4 people. How much is your expense and how many are you feeding?

I"m in San Diego County and a major grocery chain here has an ad for $0.58 per pound turkey and $0.70 per pound hams with a $25 minimum purchase. I can easily spend $25 just on the side dishes and homemade desserts for Thanksgiving.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving Day.

I'm feeding 10-12 for dinner. I started buying non-perishables over a month ago.....chicken broth, cranberry sauce, green beans, wine, etc. I bought the turkey, ham, and fresh produce yesterday. I grew potatoes, onions, green peppers and pumpkins in my garden, so that helped with the expense. In all, I spent about $200.

I lived in L.A. for 35 years. I'm sure if you shopped around a little, you could find cheaper meat that is of good quality.

I live in Hawaii and I paid $1.29/lb. for my turkey. I could have gotten a cheaper one (Safeway had some on sale for $5.88 - under 16 lbs.) but I wanted a Butterball. Cranberry sauce was purchased a month or so ago at WalMart -- under $1/can. (That's the only kind I like...lol).

Happy Thanksgiving to You too!!!!!!!
This price is about right for where you live, everything costs more this years and we have to budget for it, there's only three of us for Thanksgiving so my turkey was $12.00 and everything else was about $25.00. I always looks for the bargains the week before this big day I to am on a very tight budget.
