Good point but the #'s aren't even close and his team didn't make the playoffs.
Also, when was the last time Mags stole 24 bases? Only Willie Mays hit 54 HR and stole 24 bases in a season. That's A-Rod only land. Mags can't be mentioned in the same sentence as Mays.

Oh, no. He did not get nearly the press he deserved. His season was astonishingly good. The MVP does not have to play for a team that makes the post season, but Alex Rodriguez also had an astounding year and his team DID make the playoffs. His only competition all year was Magglio Ordonez. Had neither team made it the MVP might still go to A-Rod but the vote would be very close.

a-rod's name is being "thrown" around much more because he had better numbers and deserves it more than Mags.
Mags got plenty of media coverage here in the Detroit area, and that is good enough for me. I couldnt care less what espn says or does.
Gosh, as much as I hate the yankees (and believe me I DO!) Alex had incredible REGULAR season numbers (i.e., more RBI more HR) and is worthy of the REGULAR season MVP.
Mags won the batting title, and became the first Tiger to do so since Norm Cash did so in 1961. I'm happy with that.
Dont get me wrong, I would love to see Mags get MVP....but I know that WON'T happen.
Also, I am wondering, when you took your 'real' baseball fan test did you fail basic stats 101? Just curious.

i love magglio ordonez, i think he's so amazing, but i think a-rod definitely deserved the MVP title this season. and i know i'm a Yankees fan, and i know people will think i'm biased, but i mean honestly, he had freakin phenomenal numbers in 07. you can't ignore how he did! don't worry, magglio definitely got a lot of coverage too

Batting average is only one statistic, and a vastly overrated one at that.
He won the batting crown, which is the correct honorarium for leading the league in AVG.

ARod was the better hitter, but the reason it's not close is because ARod plays 3B. It is much easier to find a great hitter to play a corner OF position. To get a super bat like ARods on the infield leaves your corner OF positions open to add more great bats to your lineup. An OF has to hit much better than an infielder to be comparable in total value to a team. ARod will probably be unanimous.

probable gets his previous ***, and please take Sizemore off as a "precise" prospect. He blows ***, and for the White Soxs fan your team blows. you haven't any longer have been given any pitching, and your team won't be able to win the final 2 months. Twins in the event that they win who cares they loose in the 1st around each year anyhow.
